Internationally renowned drummer, composer and bandleader Yogev Shetrit invites you on a musical journey through Africa, Morocco, and Andalusia. In this inspiring talk and listening session, Yogev shares stories from his musical roots — from the Moroccan melodies he grew up with to the rich traditions of African and Andalusian folk music that have shaped his unique sound.
Discover how music can connect people across borders as Yogev tells about his tours in Africa and collaborations with traditional folk musicians. You will also get to hear selected musical examples — both from authentic African folk music and from Yogev’s own compositions.
Depending on the setting, Yogev may even demonstrate live drumming, offering a vibrant glimpse into the rhythmic heartbeat of these cultures.
The talk will be hosted by Jan Sedlák, teacher at FOF Aalborg and Czech bassist, who has taken the initiative to introduce Yogev Shetrit to the Danish music scene.
