Join this one-week summer workshop where you build a solid wood bench or box table from start to finish. The course focuses on material understanding, construction principles, and precise woodworking skills.
In this course, you work with a predefined design that allows you to concentrate fully on understanding material, construction, and precision. You follow technical drawings and learn how each element connects, how loads move through the piece, and how accuracy at every stage affects both strength and visual clarity.
By the end of the week, you leave with your own crafted bench or box table, a strong foundation in essential woodworking skills – from material preparation to joinery and finishing – and the confidence to develop and build your own future projects independently.
The course is for anyone who would like to learn woodworking while building a solid wood bench or box from start to finish.
The course follows a structured process that moves from rough timber to a finished object over the course of a week. You work from technical drawings while learning how each element connects and how loads move through the piece.
You begin by preparing solid wood – flattening, squaring, and bringing the material to dimension – before cutting and assembling the piece with precise joinery. Throughout the process, emphasis is placed on workflow and clean execution.
In the final stages, you focus on refinement by adjusting edges, preparing surfaces, and applying a finish that enhances the natural qualities of the wood.
