As the country’s largest evening school, we offer a wide variety of leisure activities: ranging from language classes, family activities, cooking and fitness courses, to music and singing lessons, creative courses and more.

Whether you have just moved to the city or lived here for a while, FOF København and Nordsjælland welcomes all. Although most of our activities and classes are taught in Danish, we also have a variety of courses and workshops taught in English.

We organize courses, workshops, lectures and tours throughout the greater area of Copenhagen. This includes Copenhagen, Frederiksberg, Tårnby, Dragør, Lyngby-Taarbæk, Rudersdal, Gladsaxe, Gentofte, Hørsholm, Fredensborg, Furesø, Helsingør, Hillerød, Allerød, Halsnæs, and Gribskov. You can therefore easily find activities near you.

What is an Evening School?

Evening schools are organized as informal education centers for adults. FOF København and Nordsjælland is part of FOF, which is Denmark’s largest provider of adult education with a wide variety of classes and cultural events across the country.

Adult education focuses on lifelong learning with the ambition to learn not only more about ourselves but also the world surrounding us. You learn by choice, not out of obligation. This enables you to delve deeper into the subjects that really interest you.

At FOF København and Nordsjælland, you gain knowledge and socialize with others who perhaps share same interests as you. The cornerstones of our education programs are personal development, improved quality of life, specialized knowledge, and a better foundation for active participation in society.

Our primary focus is to create high quality experiences. We pride ourselves on having skilled teachers who are excellent communicators, passionate about their subject areas, and who always deliver exceptional professional adult education.

Can I attend courses at FOF København and Nordsjælland if I speak English?

FOF København and Nordsjælland welcomes all!

If a course on this website is described in English, then you can be sure that the class will be taught in English. You are welcome to sign up without contacting us in advance.

All of the other activities are conducted in Danish. If you are an English speaker and would like to sign up for a course in Danish, or if you speak very little Danish, please contact the instructor directly or contact the administration by email at hej@fof-kn.dk or by telephone at 0045 4596 0100 before registering. This way we can ensure that you will get the most out the course as possible.

How do classes work?

Our courses have 2-25 participants. Many courses run for six months with one class per week. We also organise shorter courses, weekend workshops, and one-day events. On each individual course listing you can read about how the teaching is organised.

Tests or exams?

At FOF København and Nordsjælland, you learn by choice and not out of obligation. For this reason, we do not hold exams or issue course certificates.
