Realistic Oil Painting - Summer

Realistic oil painting captures the essence of life with every stroke, transforming a blank canvas into a vivid portrayal of beauty, emotion, and truth.

The course focuses on learning how to paint with oil paints, and achieving realism in both shapes and colors. The purpose is to provide you with skills and knowledge that you can apply to any painting afterwards. On the first day, we start with a drawing lesson to get an idea of everyone’s level. If the majority of participants aren't familiar with realistic drawing, it's possible to extend the drawing sessions. After a couple of drawing-hours, we start painting with oil paints. The first oil painting(s) we do are aimed at getting used to the material and learning how to control it. We will paint a still life arrangement. After being trained in the basics, we progress with topics of your or your fellow participant's choice – that could be drawing a human figure or your own compositions. We will create multiple artworks throughout the course.

As a participant in this course, you will:

• get to know the materials for oil painting, their properties, and how to use them.
• gain knowledge on how to draw and paint so that objects in your paintings look three-dimensional and real.
• learn how to use light, shadow, halftone, perspective, cold and warm contrast in colors, color harmony, and color perspective.

Requirements for the Course

Realistic oil painting - summer is intended for those who have little or no experience with oil paints. It is aimed at individuals who have never drawn or painted before, as well as you who know how to draw but have never tried oil paints specifically.

Practical Information

You have to bring your own materials (pencils, charcoals, oil paints, brushes, palette, etc.). The teacher provides a list of materials before and during the course. You also need to wear old clothes when painting. Furthermore, please note that the course is conducted in English.
