Sake Tasting and Food Pairing, class in FOF Aarhus

Sake Tasting and Food Pairing

Have you ever seen or even tried sake at sushi or Japanese restaurants? Sake is a traditional Japanese alcoholic beverage made from rice, and it comes in various types, each with its own distinct characteristics.

Aki, a certified Japanese sake sommelier, looks forward to welcoming you to an evening of a unique sake tasting experience. During a tasting, you'll also have the opportunity to enjoy food pairings that complement each sake, prepared with locally available ingredients!

In this interactive course, you will:

  • Sample various types of sake and create your own tasting chart to discover your favorite
  • Explore how sake subtly transforms when paired with specific foods
  • Gain basic knowledge about sake, including the brewing process and more

Requirements for the Course

To participant in Sake Tasting and Food Pairing, you need no prior knowledge, just your enthusiasm and passion.

Practical Information

Please note that the paired food will contain fish and seafood, as sake enhances the umami (rich and satisfying flavors) in such dishes. Additionally local ingredients are used to make it easy for you to recreate this experience at home.

The price includes the followings:

  • A variety of sake samples
  • Paired food for each sake
  • Sake tasting chart

Please note that the paired food portions are small (a snack portion), as they are intended to complement the sake.

The course is taught in english.
